As a robot guy once said, the beauty of a thing does not stem from its duration. This can be a tough lesson to learn, especially in the entertainment industry, and even more so when dealing with a massive franchise like Netflix’s “Stranger Things.” With each season of the popular show, the public becomes fixated, leading to an abundance of online discussions, memes, and merchandise sales. The series even managed to revive Kate Bush’s music catalog during its fourth season.
David Harbour at peace with Stranger Things coming to an end
However, everything must come to an end, and as the actors who began the show as children begin to age out of their roles, it’s clear to all involved that the show’s conclusion is imminent. From a narrative standpoint, there’s also a sense of closure needed as supernatural forces threaten the town of Hawkins, Indiana, and the older protagonists who must confront them.
This is the atmosphere surrounding the highly anticipated fifth and final season of “Stranger Things,” and David Harbour, who plays town sheriff and ex-Russian prisoner Jim Hopper, agrees with this sentiment. Nevertheless, just because the end is near does not mean it’s a bad thing.
Moreover, one of the most enjoyable aspects of “Stranger Things” is how the ensemble cast appears to have a great time making the show. David Harbour, who has always been one of the series’ biggest supporters, loves the show’s characters and storylines, and he never wanted it to end. However, as he has gotten older and grown in his career, he understands that it’s time to move on to other projects and try new things.
Stranger Things spin-off in the works
Harbour is eager to see what the show’s creators, the Duffer Brothers, will come up with next. He believes that the Duffers are incredibly talented, and he’s excited to see their future projects. While the Duffers are currently working on developing a “Stranger Things” spin-off and an adaptation of Stephen King’s “The Talisman,” Harbour’s career continues to thrive, with appearances in “We Have A Ghost,” the “Gran Turismo” movie, and the upcoming “Thunderbolts” feature in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
David Harbour will undoubtedly miss his “Stranger Things” family, but he believes that an ending is necessary, and it’s time to say goodbye to the show. He hopes that the conclusion will be satisfying for the cast and fans of the series, but not too cruel.
