When Seth Rollins went down with a shoulder injury serious enough to need surgery, WWE had no choice but to strip him of the World Heavyweight Championship. To crown a new champ, the company booked a battle royal to determine who would face CM Punk at Saturday Night’s Main Event (Nov. 1, 2025) inside the Delta Center in Salt Lake City. When the dust settled, it was Jey Uso who came out on top.
CM Punk Faced Off Against Jey Uso
The two were slotted for the main event — roughly 20 minutes to decide the new titleholder — and they made every second count.
Honestly, the match exceeded expectations. A lot of the drama hinged on how the finish would play out, but that tension actually worked in their favor. The crowd erupted when Uso rolled out of the ring after the first GTS and Punk managed to kick out of Jey’s Spear and Splash combo.
Things only got hotter from there. Punk blocked the next Splash with his knees and landed another GTS that came this close to ending it. The audience could feel the momentum shifting. Then, in a surprise twist, Jey pulled out Punk’s own move — hitting a GTS of his own — before Punk fired back with a Spear. Still only a two-count!
The finish turned into a chaotic scramble of counters — GTS into a sleeper, into the Anaconda Vice, then a roll-up that nearly stole it. Finally, CM Punk connected with back-to-back GTSs, and that sealed it.
CM Punk is once again your World Heavyweight Champion.
