Gunther’s impressive undefeated streak of nearly two years was put to the test tonight at Survivor Series WarGames when he defended his Intercontinental Championship against The Miz. The Miz managed to catch Gunther off guard early on with a hard-hitting chop, momentarily grabbing the Champion’s attention. However, it became evident that Miz was not to be underestimated, as he absorbed Gunther’s offense and continued to come back for more. Miz strategically targeted Gunther’s knee, relentlessly wearing him down and even coming close to victory with a brutal low blow. Despite the pain, Gunther dug deep and ultimately retained his championship.
Gunther surprised by The Miz’s fight
Following Miz’s stinging chop, Gunther responded by delivering a powerful blow and slamming the challenger to the canvas. Miz, in turn, regained control by causing Gunther to collide with the ring post, but Gunther swiftly caught Miz from the top rope and executed a forceful slam. Ascending to the top rope, Gunther connected with Miz before locking in the Boston Crab submission hold. Gunther effectively prevented Miz from reaching the bottom rope and repositioned him in the center of the ring. It was at that moment that Miz had no choice but to tap out, solidifying Gunther’s status as the reigning Intercontinental Champion.
