Damage CTRL Drops Massive Loss at Survivor Series: WarGames Match

by Larry Lease

WWE’s Survivor Series WarGames kicked off with the first of two intense WarGames matches, starting with the Women’s WarGames bout. The team of Damage CTRL, comprising IYO SKY, Bayley, Kairi Sane, and Asuka, faced off against a newly formed alliance consisting of Bianca Belair, Charlotte Flair, Shotzi, and Becky Lynch. It was revealed just before the event that Belair, Shotzi, Flair, and Lynch would have the advantage in this brutal encounter.

Damage CTRL fought back hard through the match

Throughout the match, Damage CTRL left no stone unturned in their pursuit of victory. SKY pulled off a jaw-dropping dive from the top of the cage, and the team utilized an array of weapons to gain an upper hand. Bayley valiantly defended her team with a series of pin attempts, even sacrificing herself to protect Kairi from a spear. However, her resilience came to an end when she was powerfully slammed through a table, leading to the face team’s triumph.

The action began with a fiery clash between Becky and Bayley, as their long-standing rivalry took center stage. Lynch relentlessly attempted to smash Bayley into the cage, but Bayley managed to thwart her at every turn. Lynch unleashed a flurry of dropkicks into the cage, only for Dakota Kai to intervene by placing a Kendo Stick through the cage to aid her Damage CTRL teammate.

Next, Shotzi entered the ring, and after a brief struggle with Bayley, she introduced a multitude of chairs into the match. Shotzi utilized these chairs to pummel Bayley, performing daring dives both off the chairs and through the ropes, targeting Bayley. Bayley found herself cornered, with Shotzi wielding a chair and Lynch wielding a Kendo Stick, as they pursued her up the cage wall.

SKY entered her fifth WarGames match prepared

As SKY entered the ring, her experience shone through as this marked her fifth WarGames match. SKY brandished a chain and unleashed a relentless assault on Shotzi and Lynch, but Lynch managed to wrest the chain from her grasp. Again SKY fought back, delivering dropkicks to both Shotzi and Lynch while Bayley recuperated. SKY continued to dominate, landing double knees on her opponents.

SKY attempted to involve Bayley, offering her a trash can, but Lynch intervened. A skirmish unfolded on the turnbuckle, culminating in SKY and Bayley executing a superplex on Lynch. Their attention then turned to Shotzi as they tried to replicate the maneuver, but Belair made her way to the ring, preventing Damage CTRL from carrying out their plan. Sporting her distinctive braids, Belair took charge, using them to devastating effect by leveling SKY and Bayley before sending SKY crashing into a trash can and hitting Bayley with a spine buster. Belair engaged in a fierce brawl with SKY and Bayley, but the two managed to counter her efforts and suplexed her.

Shotzi and Lynch climbed to the top rope and combined forces to take down Bayley and SKY with a splash and a leg drop. Kairi Sane made her entrance for Team Damage CTRL, armed with a massive trash can lid. She struck Shotzi with it and sent Lynch reeling before colliding with Belair. Damage CTRL regained the upper hand, placing chairs on Shotzi and having SKY execute an Elbow Drop on top of them.

Flair fought hard in first WarGames match

Belair then hurled Kairi over the ring ropes into her teammates, paving the way for Charlotte Flair to join the fray. Though this was Flair’s first WarGames, she quickly adapted, slamming SKY into the cage. Flair and Kairi briefly targeted each other, but Flair skillfully evaded their attacks. Flair and Lynch locked eyes in a staredown, only to be interrupted by Kairi and SKY. SKY managed to escape Flair’s grasp and devised a plan with Dakota Kai, attaching a chain to a trash can to hoist it up into the cage.

SKY then placed herself inside the trash can and launched herself onto everyone below, decimating her opponents. Asuka was the next entrant for Team Damage CTRL, bringing multiple Kendo Sticks into the ring and eventually introducing a table with Kai’s assistance, signaling the official start of the match.

With everyone armed and in the ring, Damage CTRL unleashed a relentless assault on the face team. SKY secured a chain around Lynch and Belair, tying them together and subjecting them to a series of dropkicks. Damage CTRL even turned Becky Lynch into a makeshift drum by placing a trash can over her and delivering dropkicks, while Asuka added to the chaos by spitting mist into Shotzi’s face. Remarkably, Lynch managed to kick out of Asuka’s pin attempt, keeping her team’s hopes alive.

Damage CTRL fell victim to the table

Damage CTRL set up a table on the opposite side of the ring while SKY continued to wield the Kendo Stick. They then focused on lifting Belair, Flair, and Lynch, positioning Flair in the corner. However, Lynch and Belair came to her rescue, executing a powerful slam. Flair ascended to the top of the cage, executing a breathtaking moonsault that struck everyone, but Bayley managed to kick out of the subsequent pin attempt.

Lynch and Flair joined forces again, delivering a vertical suplex to SKY and Kairi Sane. A moment of reconciliation between Lynch and Flair ensued, culminating in a hug, but Asuka and SKY attempted to intervene, only to find themselves trapped in submissions. Kairi and Kairi tried to break the holds by ascending to the top rope. Lynch locked Kairi in an arm-bar, but Bayley intervened, and Shotzi returned to her feet, dropkicking Asuka off Belair’s shoulders, once again preventing the pin.

Shotzi narrowly avoided Asuka’s mist attack, but Belair retaliated by spraying a fire extinguisher in her face. Later, Shotzi suffered a brutal blow from a trash can lid. Flair positioned Kairi for a spear, but Bayley selflessly stepped in to absorb the impact. Belair hoisted Bayley high and delivered the KOD, while the face team had a table prepared. Lynch then powerfully drove Bayley through the table, securing the pinfall and the victory for the face team.
