7 Greatest James Bond Gadgets

by Larry Lease

Daniel Craig has handed over his licenses to kill with his final appearance in No Time to Die. The latest Bond film has us thinking about all the gadgets that Q branch has always provided 007 with the latest in technology. These gadgets are truly a cornerstone of the franchise. Without Q, how would Bond have accomplished many of his missions?

The Craig years have kind of put the beloved gadgets behind them and instead focused on telling a more bloody and darker story. However, there’s still plenty of excitement for the gadgets that have appeared over the decades, from Sean Connery to Daniel Craig.

7. Car Invisibility Cloak

Other than James Bond himself, the Bond franchise has become known for its classic cars. In Die Another Day, Q Branch gave Bond’s Aston Martin the power of invisibility. Making it possible to sneak into evil lairs.

6. Bagpipe Flamethrower

Sadly this gadget was not actually used in a mission. It was introduced by Q in The World is Not Enough. The bagpipe flamethrower also operated as a machine gun.

5. X-Ray Glasses

Having x-ray vision helps everyone from superheroes to James Bond. When James Bond dons these sunglasses, he can use them to check for concealed weapons. They actually make an appearance in two James Bond films A View to a Kill and The World Is Not Enough.

4. Whistle-Activated Keychain

James Bond was equipped with the greatest keychain ever made. It was a completely tricked-out 007 keychain. It came complete with a lock pick, explosive charge, and stun gas. The activation sequence is the tune of Rule, Britannia.

3. Remote control BMW

Bond is always carrying a mobile phone. In GoldenEye, Bond’s newest phone has the capability to control their cars in and out of parking spaces. It’s the technology that could find its way into everyone’s cars in the future.

2. Rocket Pack

This jetpack was used in Thunderball when Bond needed to escape after killing Jaques Bouvar. What makes this even better, is that the jetpack actually works for real.

1. Deadly Briefcase

One of my favorite gadgets of all time in the history of James Bond. The legendary briefcase comes with a .22 calibre survival rifle with an infrared telescope and detachable suppressor, ammunition, 50 gold sovereigns, and a throwing knife.
