The Rock SmackDown Promo Had Fans Confused, Hyped, and Everything in Between

by Larry Lease
The Rock

The Rock had a lot to say during his appearance on WWE SmackDown tonight. First, he dropped some good news for New Orleans, but then he got down to business—calling out Cody Rhodes and laying out a plan to make him an even bigger star. The catch? Rhodes had to be his Champion.

Then, in classic Rock fashion, he cranked up the drama. He told Cody he’d be at Elimination Chamber to hear his answer, but here’s the kicker—he didn’t want Rhodes’ Championship. He wanted his soul. Yeah, you read that right. His soul.

Naturally, that sent fans into a frenzy. A nearly 30-minute promo filled with cryptic messages, unexpected twists, and some seriously bizarre energy left people trying to figure out what just happened.

Fans React: Confusion, Memes, and Wild Theories

Over on social media, fans had some thoughts—ranging from utterly confused to absolutely loving it.

@waldersports.bsky.social summed it up perfectly:

“I’m still trying to figure out what The Rock rambled about for half an hour. He wants to be brothers with Cody Rhodes, who got invited to watch Moana 2, and may have to sell his soul so he can get more Instagram followers. What the actual f*.”

Meanwhile, @jackwannan.bsky.social is still trying to make sense of it all:

“WHAT EVEN WAS THE OFFER?!?!?”

What Does This Mean for WrestleMania?

Of course, fans are already speculating about where this is all leading. Could we be getting The Rock vs. Cody Rhodes at WrestleMania 41?

@BThomps81 isn’t thrilled about that idea:

“So, is this where they set up The Rock vs Cody Rhodes at #WrestleMania? If so, NO ONE wants to see that.”

But @markwil0105 is all in:

“Am I the only one that liked this segment? I do get the vibe Rock is trying to turn Cody Rhodes into a bad guy and sell his soul to join the Rock. What if this leads to Cody turning heel at Mania against John Cena? #SmackDown”

@BradWardFight is also hyped for the possibilities:

“The Rock is coming to #WWEChamber to see Cody Rhodes. The Rock vs Cody Rhodes vs ???? at #Wrestlemania perhaps? THIS IS ABSOLUTE CINEMA. #Smackdown”

And of course, there’s always room for a good meme. @JasonNtez found the perfect Roman Reigns reaction pic to sum it all up:

“I basically just watched The Rock try convincing Cody Rhodes to join the Illuminati live #SmackDown.”

So… What’s Next?

Fans are clearly split—some are eating up every second, while others feel like they just watched 30 minutes of confusing rambling. Either way, it’s got people talking. Now, all eyes are on Elimination Chamber to see how this wild story unfolds.

What did you think of The Rock’s promo? Brilliant storytelling or just a whole lot of nothing? Drop your thoughts in the comments!
