The CW series Superman & Lois is gearing up for its final chapter. The network announced on Thursday that the series will conclude with its upcoming fourth season, which is set to consist of ten episodes and was previously given the nod earlier this year. With production for Season 4 on hold due to current industry-wide strikes, The CW anticipates that these concluding episodes will grace television screens in 2024. Looking ahead, Superman & Lois is set to be the last DC Universe series broadcasted by The CW for the time being, continuing a legacy that began with Smallville in 2001.

Brad Schwartz, The CW’s President of Entertainment, praised the show, “In its three-season run, SUPERMAN & LOIS has brilliantly reimagined the superhero narrative and family dynamics, bringing a fresh and profound depth to these iconic characters that has never been seen before in the Superman lore,” he remarked. “We owe a tremendous debt of gratitude to the dedicated writers, producers, cast, and crew, as well as our valued partners at Warner Bros. Television and Berlanti Productions. As we prepare for Superman’s last ascent, the team promises a grand 10-episode send-off that will honor one of the most storied families in CW history.”
Expressing both gratitude and a touch of melancholy, executive producers and co-showrunners Todd Helbing and Brent Fletcher said, “While it’s bittersweet to bid farewell to SUPERMAN & LOIS with the conclusion of Season Four, we cherish the journey we’ve shared with our phenomenal team. From the inception, this show has been about family, which is precisely what we’ve built, onscreen and off,” they shared. “Our heartfelt thanks go out to Berlanti Productions, DC, WB, and The CW for their unwavering support. To our viewers, a profound thank you for being a part of our audience. We eagerly anticipate presenting our final season, where our heroes, including Superman and Lois, square off against their greatest challenge yet—Lex Luthor.”
Who is set to return for the fourth season of Superman & Lois?
Among a few select renewals for the 2023-2024 season by The CW, including Walker, All-American, and All-American: Homecoming, Superman & Lois was also renewed amidst significant changes in programming by its new parent company, Nexstar. Following the Season 4 announcement, the series confirmed a reduced regular cast, transitioning actors such as Dylan Walsh (Sam Lane), Emmanuelle Chiriqui (Lana Lang), Erik Valdez (Kyle Cushing), Inde Navarette (Sarah Cushing), Wole Parks (John Henry Irons), Tayler Buck (Natalie Irons), and Sofia Hasmik (Chrissy Beppo) to recurring or guest roles.
The core family, comprised of Tyler Hoechlin (Clark Kent / Superman), Elizabeth Tulloch (Lois Lane), Michael Bishop (Jonathan Kent), and Alex Garfin (Jordan Kent), will continue to lead as series regulars into the final season. In addition, Michael Cudlitz will enjoy a promotion to a regular role, bringing the character of Lex Luthor to the forefront of the story.
